Abstract

Group A streptococcal (GAS) bacterial infections within the Indigenous populations of Northern Australia are amongst the highest in the world. This project uses genomic analysis, mathematical modelling and experimental evolution to improve our understanding of the role that bacterial recombination - the transfer of genetic material between organisms - plays in the evolution of pathogenic GAS.
